Hinton Public School Profile

Hinton Public School Emblem, in green & gold colours.

Hinton Public School is situated 10 kilometres east of Maitland at the junction of the Paterson and Hunter Rivers. The school was established in 1848, making it the second oldest continually operating school in the state. Hinton Public School boasts five modern classrooms, a well-equipped computer room and a beautiful heritage-listed library. The school motto of 'Every Little One Counts' is adopted in all school activities. Each child is valued, encouraged and given opportunities in sport, dance, environmental activities and academic competitions. Extra programs include debating, school parliament, Active After School Communities, peer support, Starstruck and the Newcastle Herald Newspaper Competition. Our aim is to allow each child to reach his/her potential through participation, access to a variety of activities and links to other schools. We encourage and receive community support through an active Parents and Citizens and classroom participation from numerous parents. The recently extended playground includes a hard court, cola, a large covered play equipment area, grassed areas, cricket net and a passive area including seating, a giant chess area and a vegetable garden.
