EVACUATION ACTION
Evacuation signal: Bell rings continuously or hand bells are rung.
- Students stop work. Teachers will where possible turn off electrical/gas appliances and close doors and windows – check storerooms and close the door of the classroom.

- Classes move quickly and in an orderly manner from rooms to:
- The grassed area at south western area of playground (transpiration area) or
- Depending on involvement of Gas Tank, head for the park beside the river.Class teachers are to take Class rolls with them – each roll should contain school list. This will assist if the teacher is unable to retrieve own roll.
- Principal will escort own class to nearest teacher for supervision. Principal or assistant then to check all buildings especially toilets, storerooms.
- Rolls should be marked immediately, and absentees and their last known location should be reported immediately to Principal or assistant Principal.
- Teachers are to maintain adequate supervision of pupils.
- No person is to return to buildings until Principal, in consultation with the appropriate emergency service in control at the time, is satisfied it is safe to do so.
- Principal or school assistant to notify appropriate authorities immediately.
- School Assistant to collect First Aid Kit, walky-talky, visitors sign on book and class lists then move to assembly area.
- Fire extinguishers (located in library, office, canteen foyer, HB1 and HB4.)
- Children may only be sent home if collected by a parent unless critical situation arises e.g. rising floodwaters.
- District Office to be informed of action taken and formal report written where necessary.
Circulation: All classrooms – including Library, RFF, STLA, Office, Principal’s Office, Canteen.
