p & c Association inc.

Meeting opened: 7:00 pm

Minutes: The minutes of the previous meeting were read and passed as true and correct.

Business arising from minutes:
Ken Sharkey - Wish to discuss Genevieve Leonard to continue to stay as Canteen Co-ordinator, as she is doing an excellent job. Genevieve Leonard has discussed with Ken Sharkey that she is happy to continue the position and wishes the P&C to discuss and put to a vote if they wish. P&C think Genevieve Leonard is doing a great job and would like her continue to stay as Canteen Co-ordinator

Mother’s Day stall went well, thanks to Leanne Smith for purchasing the items, to Tash Burton and helpers for organizing the day. Thank you
 
Cake Stall on the Election Day another good fundraiser. Thank you to parents for baking, and to the volunteers on the day.  The stall profit of $320.00.
 
Trash ‘n’ Treasure on the election day went well, some good bargins. Profit of $110.00
 
Mc Donalds fundraiser Tuesday 5th April. Thank you for the families who attended.
A very big thank you to Gail Martin & Belinda Walterback for organizing the day. The school receives $250.00 profit.
 
Gail Martin (Belinda Walterback’s mum) has been collecting Norco Bottle Tops and sending them back to Norco who then gives the money to organization of her choosing and she has opted for Hinton School to receive the money. Once again a big thank you.
 
Regarding the plants, will be hoping to receive plants for spring.

There is $6000.00 in the account now, but had this amount at start of year, need to target more on grants to raise more funds for the computers.
We need to do more brain storming, more fundraising and push to maybe do the fundraising by community based instead of only with school families.
Would like to push for drink bottles sales, will bring out a newsletter out in September.
 
Presidents Report:                                                                                                            
Would like to thank all the volunteers who helped to make the Mother’s Day stall a success. Thank you to all the parents who take time out to volunteer in so many things regarding the school, especially parents who do behind the scenes work. Thank you
 
Uniform Co-ordinator:                                                                                        
 
Will issue a note regarding the winter uniform and will give a deadline for ordering winter stock. There is plenty of second hand stock available.
 
Canteen Report:
 
There was a problem with the freezer and is now fixed.
Belinda Brosie would like to possibly bring to the school two green products to help the canteen go from an amber canteen to a green canteen, the canteen could sell popcorn and eucalyptus lollies.
P&C would like to trial popcorn, Sue Allen has offered to donate a popcorn machine and canteen will trial from Friday for 2 weeks to see if it will be profitable and to see if the students wish to purchase popcorn. The popcorn must be nut free popcorn.

Principals Report:
 
Thank you to the Treasurer for thinking of fundraising ideas.
Parents need to know what is allocated funds from the beginning of the year and if you need more money to keep the P&C running smoothly you must bring over fundraising money.
 
The School received a $1,000.00 gift voucher from Target
Furniture arrived for the computer room, but was the wrong size. The furniture was for high school aged children.
Will receive money for having the existing smart board, so will use the money

possibly for furniture in the computer room to replace the wrong size furniture.
 
Need to advertise for new enrolments for 2012, possibly to do a letter box drop. Mrs Drayton will visit the preschool.
 
There’s  lots happening at school. We have starstruck, netball, small schools soccer daily P.E in preparation for the sport’s carnival.
 
Parent, teacher interviews went well we had an  80% attendance of parents. Mrs Bortfeld plans to have her interviews week 7.
 
Naplan Year 5 maths was very difficult, will have results approximately September.
 
Kindergarten to Year 3 excursion will be on 2 June. Students will not be able to buy souvenirs and parent helpers will not be with their child.
 
The canteen is missing items - 2 boxes of lollies, Belinda Brosie wishes to make volunteers and parents aware if they find them, to let her know.
 
I’m very happy to have Genevieve Leonard to continue on as Canteen Supervisor. Will have P&C approve a new role statement proposal for canteen next meeting. Will have a final copy displayed in office and bought to next meeting.
 
The Year 4 to 6 excursion on at the end of August at Bathurst will be $50.00 less for parents who have 2 children to assist in costs.
                                                                                              
General Business:
 
The trivia night, Belinda Walterback’s husband cannot organize. Will set a date for the event in the next meeting, looking at possibly September at Morpeth or Lorn Park.
 
Michelle Hawkins has asked that the canteen be closed on Cross Country Days, as the volunteer misses out on watching their child participate in the cross country, or alternating the day or maybe to ask Gail Burns to choose a different day to canteen day. 
 
To maybe do special meal days when Year 4 to 6 are away on excursion for the Kindergarten to Year 3
 
Rochelle Tubb to give Staci Baird the fundraiser letter from Bunnings regarding the BBQ on Sunday 19th June and is too give yellow envelope, if she doesn’t have to give Bunnings are ring.
 
Lampshade did not receive any bids. P&C have decided to give the lampshade to Ruth (our lovely cleaner).

Pie Drive, Donna Morris will organize, date yet to decided for picking up orders. Orders forms will be in by 10th June.

Donna Morris brought to the P&C of a biscuit dough fundraiser, P&C found not a great one to do.
 
Kaylene Kennerson looked into overnight shopping trip, it would possibly cost $200.00 per person. So, will bring out a note for expression of interest.
Kaylene is looking into massage as group for fundraising as well.
 
Canteen proposal will be retyped and bought to next meeting- will have final proposal will be in the office for viewing.
