MiNUTES OF THE general meeting of p & c Association inc. 16 February 2010 Meeting opened: 7:10 pm D. Morris presiding, welcome everyone Present & Apologies :as per attendance book. Minutes: The minutes of the previous meeting were read and passed as true and correct. M: R. Tubb S: K. Lantry Business arising from minutes: K. Lantry has found a $90.00 digital photo frame for the office, need to check measurements. K.Sharkey said the photo frame will require a power point as well. Correspondence: (In and Out) as per book M: S Baird S: R.Tubb Treasurers Report: Opening Balance -$5,850.95 Balance as per book - $7,808.35 M: R.Tubb S: S.Baird Presidents Report: Welcome everyone to hopefully a successful fundraising and fun year Drink Bottles – A few parents have complained about the price of the bottles being too high. I believe that this is a fair price. Drink bottles at other organisations are $7 - $8 or higher. Parents are not obligated to buy them. We are only making approx $1 on each drink bottle, due to the price of the bottles being $2.75 to buy + GST + we had to pay the $60 set up fee. All of this regarding the price and colour of drink bottles was discussed at one of the meetings last year, and all who were present agreed on the price being reasonable. I don’t want to sound horrible but if parents want to make these decisions they need to come to the meetings and decide as a group and not bag the decisions made. Money raised from the shopping trip was $1050. Uniform Co-ordinator: Page 2 Looked at 2 local screen printers Imsprint at East Maitland and J&K Embroidery at Maitland J&K Embroidery at Maitland is better as I can pick them up to save us all on postage, have no set up cost and no minimum.
If we wanted only 10 shirts done, small orders the cost would be $10.00 per shirt As we were desperate to get them done, they got the screen logo made up and have now done 81 shirts for us since then. Canteen Supervisor: Everything is fine, the oven has been fixed and the canteen is now stocked. Lots of volunteers in training. In need of volunteers for 4 days. Have revised the roster as changes have been made. Some volunteers did not turn up. Rochelle Tubb has made contact details of volunteers available in the newsletter. Principals Report: Impressed with the P&C here and ready to go. My School website will be on line 4 March 2011 Air conditioning is now in the Kindergarten room, will be needing 2 air conditioners in the computer room Some parents have criticized the class structure of a K, 1/2, 2/3, 3/4/5, 5/6. 3 children will be leaving the school and 3 children will be enrolling. Have an aim to set up the computer room in 2 stages, firstly setting up the tables and moving the existing computers from the library to the computer room and set them all up. 2nd stage will be to wire up 15 new computers and 1 computer to run the smart board. Students will then have compulsory computer class. Excursions for this year hoping the P&C will contribute to. In the process of organizing K-3 excursion to Taroonga Zoo, parents have been asked if they wish to go as a supervisor and will have several children to take care of for the day. Parents are welcome to drive to Taroonga Zoo too. Page 3 Excursion for Year 4-6 to Annoyed with criticism of the school and the P&C of certain people speaking very badly of the teachers and the P&C. If there are any problems parents are welcomed to speak with me Starstruck - We are not in as yet, we are just at the audition process, there were 34 students who auditioned to go in from years 4-6. The rules were explained to the students on the audition process by Mrs Bortfeld, it is the students who can pick up the routine the quickest will be selected to be in the video audition, as there is only a short amount of time to learn routines. Mrs Bortfeld gave up her lunch times to assist children. Mrs Bortfeld had the difficult task of selecting only 18 students for the video audition, which she has accomplished fairly, there was gossip around the school that students are selected only if the parents are involved with the P&C. This gossip has left parents and Mrs Bortfeld very distressed. Teachers do not receive extra money for the time they spend with starstruck. General Business: K. Kenerson There are a few things we need to organise and settle for the upcoming events throughout the year. 1. Mothers Day stall at school – need to settle on whether Leanne Smith will buy the Mothers Day presents at $3.50 per present so we don’t miss out on ordering earlier. Leanne Smith is O.K to purchase 176 present with the total cost of presents $562.55. M. K.Lantry S: J.Woodward 2. We need a large fundraising event for the year to raise the money needed for the computer room. If somebody wants to take on the role of Co-ordinator for a Fete this would be a wonderful way of raising a portion of the money. (I am unable to do this due to work/studying this year, but am willing to help on the day). 3. Does anybody have any ideas for fundraising to maximise our chances of raising a lot of money. 4. Last year we had a few issues with purchasing presents for outgoing P & C Members. To rectify this problem I wish to put forward that we acknowledge Page 4 outgoing members, not by buying a gift but acknowledging their tremendous efforts over their child(s) schooling years, in either a certificate or at the end of year P & C speech at presentation night. As a member of the P & C we all work hard to raise money for our kids. Buying a present just to say thank you to everyone who has volunteered would be difficult and costly. We all would agree that it is dam hard work and would rather see the money spent on our kids and the school. Does everyone agree, or have any other ideas.
