House Captain Elections
1. Candidates are Year 5 students who are not newly elected school leaders. (Parliamentarians are eligible.)
2. Each House to supply one boy and one girl as leaders for that House if available – otherwise 2 girls or 2 boys may be elected.
3. The boy and the girl with most votes become the new House leaders.
4. A secondary election involving the boy and the girl (from # 3 above) should be made to ascertain who will be the Captain and who will be the Vice – Captain.
5. Voting will be by a show of hands with children having heads down and eyes shut as they do so. This system is simply “first past the post”.
6. Those elected will be aware of this situation immediately. They will receive a sheet outlining their role and duties as a Sports Captain.
7. All new House Captains will be announced and presented to the next applicable full school assembly.
Appendix 1 : Procedures may be adjusted if year numbers are insufficient to fill all roles.
Appendix 2 : Elections will be held on the Friday straight after school leader elections.
Appendix 3 : All candidates must be deemed suitable. This refers to behaviour, attitude and approach to tasks. The Discipline System (yellow slip) will be used as a reference point.
